PPDM is a 3-week course on project planning and design (Week 1), project feasibility and appraisal (Week 2) and project implementation and management (Week 3). Ideal for first-time project managers.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- To broaden and deepen the knowledge and skills needed in project planning and implementation; and
- To gain in-depth understanding of concepts, theory and approaches to the entire project management cycle from project identification to project design, appraisal and feasibility, organization and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
COURSE DESIGN
Module I: Project Planning and Design
National and Sectoral Plans; Country Strategies and Programming; Identification; Stakeholder Analysis; Problem Analysis; and Logframe
Module II: Project Feasibility and Appraisal
Technical, Market and Organizational Analysis; SIA and EIA; Financial and Economic Analysis; Risk Analysis
Module III: Implementation and Management
Implementation issues; Monitoring and Evaluation; Project Manager; Managing Project Teams; Private-Public Partnership Projects; and Sustainability Issues
METHODOLOGY
The course will be delivered via formal presentations, case studies and exercises under the guidance of AIM faculty and consultants from the development sector.
PARTICIPANTS
This course is designed for practitioners who are or would be involved in the planning and implementation of development projects and programs. Typical participants include those from government departments and agencies, non-governmental organizations, developmental institutions and international organizations, especially: project analysts and specialists, project implementation officers, project supervisors and managers, and development administrators.
COURSE FEE
Course fee is US$2,650. Fee includes all sessions, course materials, snacks and lunches. Does not include travel or accommodations. Accommodations may be arranged through the program coordinator and paid for separately.
